Kourou / Paris / Bremen, May 15. Only a few weeks until lift-off: Arianespace today officially announced the planned launch date for flight VA261. The last Ariane 5 rocket is scheduled to launch into space on June 16, 2023.  It will orbit two different passengers: the German telecommunications satellite Heinrich Hertz and the French satellite Syracuse 4B.

Heinrich Hertz, who was developed and built by OHB on behalf of DLR, has already been flown safely to the European spaceport Kourou in French Guiana on a Ukrainian Antonov. An OHB team on site is currently assisting with preparations for the launch.

The Heinrich Hertz mission is being carried out by the German Space Agency within DLR on behalf of the German Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Climate Action and with the participation of the German Federal Ministry of Defense on the basis of a resolution passed by the German Bundestag.
