Successful kick-off event at Paris Airshow for ESAs flagship science mission LISA. All eyes on LISA – the first space-based observatory dedicated to explore the universe by studying gravitational waves. Eagerly awaited by scientists around the world and expected to reveal some of the last mysteries of our universe. The excitement was palpable today when the European Space Agency (ESA) and the space company OHB System AG celebrated the official kick-off at the Paris Airshow. The prime contract for ESA's Laser Interferometer Space Antenna (LISA) mission is worth 839 million Euros. It was awarded to OHB for developing the LISA space segment, which is to show everyone on our planet the universe in a groundbreaking new way.
High-quality data from space is in demand. At the same time, the satellites that provide this data are becoming increasingly complex. This means that new approaches to satellite design are needed.
Humanity's ability to divert dangerous asteroids was demonstrated in September 2022, when NASA's DART spacecraft deliberately collided with the asteroid Dimorphos.
Europe’s cutting-edge mission to monitor greenhouse gases will be enhanced – A huge step forward in the fight against climate change. The European Space Agency (ESA) relies once again on OHB’s high expertise and competence in developing earth observation satellites. Following the awarding of the CO2M contract in 2020 for the development of the first two satellites of this mission, ESA and OHB System AG signed a contract worth 175.5 million euros for the third CO2M-satellite.
