The dual study programme at OHB - your step into a space career

At OHB you can study in a dual system. This means that you complete a degree course at a university and at the same time have practical training phases in our company, during which you complete an integrated vocational training programme.

What can you expect during your dual studies at OHB?

You will gain direct insights into the practice of space-flight operations and be involved in our exciting projects here at OHB! You will get to know various departments and find out in which areas your personal strengths and interests lie. You will be part of the community of trainees and dual students at OHB and will receive individual and personal support from our training staff. The lectures, which are held on site at OHB, are conducted by experts from our specialist departments. In contrast to conventional study programmes, you will also earn money from the very beginning of your studies at OHB.

Mars rover and further real-life projects

The students at OHB built a Mars rover, which they are constantly developing. They also work on real OHB projects and missions, thus making an important contribution to the work at OHB.

A practice-oriented dual course of study in the field of mechatronics entails...

  • Studying "Automation/Mechatronics" at the Bremen University of Applied Sciences
  • Completing a practice-orientated specialist training course at OHB system AG in various related fields. These include theory and practice in space technology, orbit and attitude control, testing and manufacturing, supplemented by business management units and working methods in systems engineering
  • Selecting areas of study from the electrical engineering, computer science and mechanical engineering modules at the university
  • Completing a standard period of study of 3.5 years
  • Obtaining a Bachelor of Engineering degree
  • Receiving continuous support & advice from experts at the OHB Group

 

Expected qualifications are...

  • Higher education entrance qualification with very good grades in technical subjects (including mathematics)
  • Interest in computer science, electrical engineering, and space technology
  • Good command of English & German
  • Good teamwork and communication skills
  • Self-discipline and ability to work under pressure

  • To study "Computer Science: Software and Systems Engineering" at Bremen University of Applied Sciences
  • To complete a practice-orientated specialist training course at OHB System AG in various related fields, e.g., satellite software, artificial intelligence, network security
  • Selecting from the computer science and electrical engineering modules at the university
  • Completing a standard period of study of 3.5 years
  • Obtaining a Bachelor of Science degree
  • Receiving continuous support & advice from experts of the OHB group

  • To study "Luft- und Raumfahrttechnik" at München University of Applied Sciences
  • To complete a practice-integrated specialist training program at OHB System AG in various subject areas, e.g. satellite systems, space technology and artificial intelligence
  • Taking a selection of modules from the university's Faculty of Mechanical Engineering, Automotive Engineering and Aeronautical Engineering
  • Completing a standard duration of study of 3.5 years
  • Obtaining a Bachelor of Science degree
  • Receiving continuous support & advice from experts of the OHB group

Note: It is also possible to start the 3rd semester of the dual study program at OHB!

  • Take a selection of modules from the Faculty of Applied Sciences and Mechatronics at the university
  • Completing a standard period of study of 3.5 years
  • Obtaining a Bachelor of Science degree
  • Receiving continuous support & advice from experts of the OHB group

You can complete your training with us at OHB. Would you like to get active right after school and gain practical experience at the same time? You will have this opportunity in the various fields of training that OHB offers and also gain direct and exclusive insights into the world of OHB.

What awaits you during your training at OHB?

You will gain a direct insight into practical work during your training at OHB and be involved in our exciting projects. You will get to know the specialised departments and be part of the OHB community of trainees (Azubis) and dual trainees (Dualis). You can find out in practice where your individual strengths and interests lie. As a trainee, you will be provided with individual and personal support. In contrast to conventional study programmes, you will of course be earning money right from the very start of your training.

Training as an IT specialist entails …

  • Integration of trainees into the practical working environments of IT specialists
  • Individual knowledge transfer through learning modules or work assignments in a separate, secure training environment
  • Assignment during training to different stations, e.g., IT service, application development, system design or system operation
  • Deep insights into the processes of a space company
  • A standard training period of three years (can be shortened if necessary)
  • A Chamber of Industry and Commerce (IHK) diploma in the selected field
  • Continuous support and advice from OHB Group experts
  • If possible, continuation of employment at OHB after completion of the training program

Expected Qualifications are:

  • Secondary school leaving certificate, entrance qualification for a university of applied sciences or general university entrance qualification with good grades in technical subjects
  • Interest in computer science, electrical engineering, and space technology
