OHB’s Process Control Systems unit awarded second place in top supplier status by Deutsche Bahn in the infrastructure category

With its automation and process control systems business, the aerospace group has been a reliable partner for Deutsche Bahn for around 45 years

September 19, 2018, Berlin/Oberpfaffenhofen. OHB System AG, a subsidiary of aerospace group OHB SE was awarded second place in top supplier status by Deutsche Bahn in the infrastructure category at InnoTrans, the world’s leading transport technology exhibition, yesterday. For around 45 years now, OHB’s Process Control Systems (PCS) unit has been playing a key role in the reliable monitoring and management of the electric traction power supply for trains across the entire network operated by Deutsche Bahn (DB). With this award, Deutsche Bahn acknowledges companies that have asserted themselves against the competition in their market segment. “We are proud to have received second place in DB top supplier status for 2018 in the infrastructure category. Looking forward, we will continue to develop and manage our systems for automating and controlling complex rail infrastructure processes with great expertise and passion. We wish to thank Deutsche Bahn most sincerely for the close collaboration over four decades,” says Siegfried Melzer, Director of Process Control Systems at OHB System AG.

OHB has been able to steadily enhance the reliability of the system over the last few years through automation and digitalization. This is because ever higher demands are being placed on the availability of the close-meshed overhead line network due to the high frequency of trains. OHB’s Process Control Systems unit specializes in the automation of traction power supply.

OHB System AG offers an end-to-end range of process control systems for automating and controlling sophisticated railway infrastructure processes. These include station control technology for 16.7 Hz traction power supply, central monitoring of always-on telecommunications between control stations and electrical equipment via VPN and cellular telephony, as well as communication and IT security solutions related to process control technology.
