Your Training at OHB – Achieving Great Things Together

You can complete your apprenticeship at OHB. Would you like to start working right after high school and gain hands-on experience? This is possible through the various apprenticeship programs OHB offers, and you’ll gain direct and exclusive insights into the world of OHB.

What can you expect from your apprenticeship at OHB?

Through your apprenticeship at OHB, you’ll gain direct insight into our work and become part of our exciting projects. You’ll get to know our various departments and join the community of apprentices and dual-track students at OHB. Along the way, you’ll have the opportunity to discover your strengths and interests through hands-on experience. We provide individualized and personalized support to our apprentices. Unlike a traditional college degree program, you’ll earn a salary from the very start of your apprenticeship.

Our training programs:

Training to become an IT specialist means…

  • Integrating Trainees into the Practical Work Environments of IT Professionals
  • Customized knowledge transfer through instructional modules, guided discussions, or work assignments in a dedicated, secure training environment
  • Assignments in various departments as part of the training program, such as IT services, application development, system design, or system operations
  • In-depth insights into the operations of a space company
  • a standard training period of three years (which may be shortened if necessary)
  • a Chamber of Industry and Commerce (IHK) certificate in the chosen field
  • ongoing support and guidance from experts within the OHB Group
  • if possible, continued employment with the company after completing the training program

The expected qualifications are…

  • High school diploma, technical college entrance qualification, or general college entrance qualification with good grades in technical subjects 
  • Interest in computer science, electrical engineering, and aerospace engineering
  • good command of English
  • strong teamwork and communication skills
  • Self-discipline and resilience

Work-Study Program

The dual study program at OHB – Your first step toward a career in space

At OHB, you can pursue a dual degree program. This means you’ll study at a university while also completing practical training periods at our company, during which you’ll earn an integrated vocational qualification.

What can you expect from the dual degree program at OHB?

You’ll gain direct insight into the practical aspects of the space industry and be part of our exciting projects! You’ll get to know various departments and discover which areas align with your personal strengths and interests. As part of OHB’s community of trainees and dual-track students, you’ll receive individualized and personalized support from our mentors. The lectures held on-site at OHB are conducted by experts from our specialist departments. Unlike a traditional degree program, you’ll also earn money from the very start of your studies at OHB. 

Mars Rover and Other Practical Projects

The students at OHB have built a Mars rover, which they are continuously refining. They also contribute to real OHB projects and missions, thereby making an important contribution to OHB’s work.

A dual degree program with practical training in mechatronics means…

  • Studying "Automation/Mechatronics" atBremen University of Applied Sciences
  • to complete a practice-oriented vocational training program at OHB System AG in various fields. These include: theory and practice in aerospace engineering, trajectory and attitude control, testing and manufacturing, supplemented by business management modules and work methods in the field of systems engineering
  • to take a selection of courses from the electrical engineering, computer science, and mechanical engineering programs at the university
  • to complete a standard program of study lasting 3.5 years
  • to earn a Bachelor of Engineering degree
  • receive ongoing support and advice from experts within the OHB Group

The expected qualifications are…

  • High school diploma with (very) good grades in technical subjects (including mathematics)
  • Interest in computer science, electrical engineering, and aerospace engineering
  • good command of English
  • strong teamwork and communication skills

PA dual degree program in computer science that integrates practical experience means…

  • Studying “Computer Science: Software and Systems Engineering” atBremen University of Applied Sciences

  • to take a selection of courses from the computer science and electrical engineering programs at the university
  • to complete a standard program of study lasting 3.5 years
  • to earn a Bachelor of Science degree
