OHB awarded contract of approximately EUR 87m in total to realize the ground segments E-SGA and FSLG

Bremen, December 1, 2006. OHB-System AG, a subsidiary of OHB Technology AG (Prime Standard, ISIN: DE0005936124), was instructed today from the German Federal Office of Defense Technology and Procurement (BWB), Koblenz, to realize the establishment of a European satellite-based reconnaissance system. The corresponding contract has been signed today at the headquarters of BWB in Koblenz.

Regarding the contract volume of EUR 87m in total including all optional items, which will be cofinanced by Germany and France, OHB-System will be creating the technical basis allowing France to access the German SAR-Lupe radar system. In return, Germany will receive access to HELIOS II optical system. The essential technical developments will be implemented within the following three years.

In a preliminary step, OHB-System, which is going to develop and construct SAR-Lupe in its capacity as the principal contractor, has already defined a concept for the systems integration in the pre-studies E-SGA und FSLGS. E-SGA means „Europäisierung der satellitengestützten Aufklärung“ (European satellite-based reconnaissance system) and FSLGS „French SAR-Lupe Ground Segment“.
